When we look at and touch his works, we often feel that they resemble Western-style tableware or European antiques rather than mere earthenware. Drawing on the influence of European antiques, he designs and creates pottery in shapes he considers easy to use and suitable for Japanese life. He surrounds himself with a variety of European and Japanese antiques in his daily life, often basing his creations on items he uses and sees every day, as well as on trips to view beautiful retro masterpieces.
What he considers important when creating his works is the warm texture unique to ceramics, while also evoking a sophisticated European form. He finds it interesting that he not only incorporates European antiques but also expresses the worldview he values through his art. His works predominantly feature ivory and dusty gold colours, with each piece exhibiting its own unique character. The ivory colour utilises a transparent glaze to highlight the natural colour of the clay, creating a shimmering surface reminiscent of the moment before waves recede, allowing water to soak into the sand. The dusty gold colour evokes rusted metal, using a glaze that becomes more lustrous with use. This creates a work that gives an antique feel, enabling the viewer to enjoy the evolving appearance as it ages.
