Artist Profile | Masao Kozumi was born in Kumamoto in 1979. After completing his studies at Toyama City Institute of Glass Art, he moved to Tokyo and worked in glass studios. He now lives and works in his studio in Gifu. He has received numerous prizes for his works, in which he uses high iron content glass to create modern glass work that is reminiscent of antique Edo period glasswares. Kozumi utilises the Katabuki method, or mould-blowing in English, which is a technique where one blows the molten glass within a mould attached to the end of the blowing pole.
