Yoshimichi Yoshida creates bamboo crafts in Azumino, Nagano Prefecture. With a focus on daily life, he proposes the beauty of bamboo in everyday life. Yoshida's work begins with splitting the bamboo into small pieces and creating strips less than 1mm thick. Each delicate piece of his work is carefully woven in this way. The pure and dignified air of bamboo remains even after it has been transformed by Yoshida's hands, gently enveloping anything placed on it. He mainly creates flower baskets, but also makes tea ceremony utensils and tea mats.
